Literature Text

The light we rely on is going out fast;
I have a feeling it will extinguish,
Leaving us in the unknown darkness
And we must find a way out to relinquish.

Our hearts glow with artificial light,
All of us are untrue in certain ways.
Let us be strong and arise high
Out of this bittersweet haze.

Life is a puzzle, we must search around
To find the missing pieces.
Because in this place we call home,
The time is limited on its lease.

Then in the unexplored corners
We find something, a resolution.
An unexpected answer
To all our city's problems and needs.

They tell us were the only city of light
In a world darkness, destruction, and night.
But they do not know, that there's more to this
They have blinded themselves in their own likeliness.

Come with me, and you will see
The beautiful world outside.
Like nothing before... Nothing comes close
And soon, all your tears will be dried.
One of my prouder poems... My class read City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, and I absolutely loved it! Hope you enjoy! :)
